Message from Dave Burford

Swim development camps, please would all the clubs submit a list of which coaches they will be sending to attend the development day on the 25th April 2010 and the 16th May 2010, I feel it is important to stress that this program is fundamentally about coach development within the county as much as swimmer development.

The success of this program will rely on the attendance of coaches from all the clubs in Shropshire firstly to support any swimmers they may have and secondly to take this new experience back to their home club and apply it to their own swimmers, which in time hopefully will help all the clubs produce technically better swimmers. The development day also provides a meeting point and a chance to exchange idea's with the Performance Coaches and learn from each other's experience and feedback any ideas for future development.

If the clubs have any feedback they wish to make we could do this via the monthly ASA meeting by including it on the agenda, and asking the reps to talk with their coaches and committees and swimmers and parents.

I believe that the Shropshire ASA will at some point need to evaluate the program as this is an interim solution and a permanent solution will still need to be developed.

 

Kingerlee Gala

We are currently looking at selecting a team for this gala which is to be held on the 9th May 2010, we will be using the county rankings as usual, but realize that the 50m times for most 11 year olds may be out of date so will gauge them against recent 100 times to try to ensure a fair selection process. I am happy to receive comments from clubs and parents alike on how the selection process works as I know its not perfect but from my point of view it is reasonable transparent.
